YOUR BRAND HAS A
STICKINESS PROBLEM.
Most brands slide right off. A prospect sees your ad, visits your site, maybe even likes what they see. Then two weeks later, when they’re ready to buy, they can’t remember your name. That’s not a reach problem. That’s a top of mind brand awareness strategy problem, and it’s fixable.
At AH, we work with founders and growth-stage companies on exactly this: building brands that stay with people long after the first touchpoint. What we’ve found is that brand stickiness isn’t about being everywhere. It’s about being clear, specific, and human enough that people can hold onto you.
Here’s what that actually requires.
CLARITY IS THE FOUNDATION.
Attention is short. Not because people are lazy, but because they’re busy and bombarded. If someone lands on your website or sees your content and has to work to understand what you do, you’ve already lost them. No clarity means no recall. No recall means you don’t exist when the buying decision happens.
The fastest way to test this: take a piece of your brand copy (a homepage header, a product description, a social post), remove your logo, and hand it to someone who doesn’t work at your company. Ask them one question: what does this company do? If they hesitate, qualify their answer, or get it wrong, that’s your answer too.
This isn’t just a copy problem. Clarity has to run through everything: your site, your printed materials, your sales conversations. Inconsistency between channels is its own form of confusion.
YOUR NAME AND TAGLINE ARE DOING MORE WORK THAN YOU THINK.
The combination of a company name and a tagline is where stickiness either compounds or collapses. Think of it as the difference between ordinary glue and gorilla glue with duct tape on top. When they work together, almost nothing pulls them apart.
The goal is a name that doesn’t require a decoder ring paired with what we call an onliness statement: a single line that articulates what only you do, for whom, and why it matters. When those two elements lock together, people remember both.
We ran into this ourselves. Associated Humanity takes some work to parse. It’s not immediately obvious what we do. So we leaned into the acronym. Our tagline, “Designing the AH! Experience for your brand,” does two things at once: it references our name and signals the kind of work we do. The name became a feature instead of a liability.
If your name is already set, you can solve for this in the tagline. Make it specific enough to mean something, distinctive enough to stick. If you’re naming a company from scratch, take it seriously. Consider how the name looks in design, how the acronym reads, what negative interpretations exist, and whether it can carry weight as the company grows.
AI CONTENT IS QUIETLY ERODING YOUR BRAND.
This one tends to surprise people, but we’ve watched it happen enough times to say it plainly: brands that over-rely on AI-generated images and video are actively working against their own stickiness.
AI is genuinely useful. We use it for workflow, content ideation, industry research, basic SEO tasks, and early-stage copy drafts. That’s the right lane for it. The problem comes when AI-generated visuals replace the human-derived content that actually makes a brand feel real. People have developed a fast, almost subconscious recognition of AI imagery, and when they spot it, trust quietly decreases.
Buyers buy from brands they trust. They trust brands that feel human. The time and money saved by swapping real photography or original design for AI-generated alternatives can cost you something much harder to recover: the sense that there are actual people behind what you’re selling.
Use AI where it serves your operations. Protect the parts of your brand that require a human touch.
THE STICKINESS GAP IS COSTING YOU SALES.
New companies are forming constantly. The market your prospects operate in is crowded, and most of your competitors are saying roughly what you’re saying. The brands that win aren’t always the ones with the best product. They’re the ones people can remember when it matters.
